Apr 4, 2006, Medway, MA—Medway Co-operative Bank is pleased to bestow its annual College Scholarship Award to Thomas Maffeo, a resident of Medway Co-operative Bank MA. The scholarship is given each year to a local youth who successfully completes the first semester of college, and is registered for the second semester. Bank President & CEO Jack Hamilton recently presented the $1000 check to Mr. Maffeo in recognition of his outstanding academic achievements.

Mr. Maffeo is a 2005 graduate of Medway Co-operative Bank High School. He is currently a freshman at the University of Massachusetts, Amherst, where he is enrolled in the Isenberg School of Management. A Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration is his ultimate goal, with a minor in legal studies.
While attending Medway Co-operative Bank High School, he won his school's Principal's Choice Award (2005) and scored 1st place in the United Nations National Speech Contest (2004). He was elected “Chief Justice” of the Congressional Youth Leadership Council in Washington DC (2004), and “Campaign Manager” during the Presidential Youth Inaugural Conference in Washington DC (2005). At Medway Co-operative Bank High Schoo,l he was also President of the National Honor Society (2004-2005), Student Council Member (2001-2005), and Varsity Track Captain (2004-2005).
Encouraging young people such as Thomas Maffeo to excel is an important priority for Medway Co-operative Bank. The annual College Scholarship Award is just one way the Bank demonstrates this ongoing commitment. Additionally, the Bank is a proud patron of the Tri-Valley Youth Hockey and the Mendon Youth Baseball teams. It sponsored the creation of the Mendon-Upton Education Foundation website, and Bank President Jack Hamilton serves on the Foundation's Board of Directors.
