Medway Co-operative Bank Helps Bellingham Library Spruce Up Kitchen
(Bellingham, MA) - The Friends of Bellingham Public Library recently
received a $1,000 donation from Medway Co-operative Bank. The money
donated will be directed to repairs and renovations to the library's
kitchen, which is frequently used by groups who hold their meetings or
events in the Community Room.
After participating in a Federal Home Loan Bank of Boston community
reinvestment lending program, Medway Co-operative Bank became eligible
to direct some targeted community grant funds to local non-profit
organizations. The Bank nominated Friends of Bellingham Public Library
as one of the recipients of the FHLB $500 grant money. The balance of
the $1,000 donation was contributed directly by Medway Co-operative Bank
Bank.
Medway Co-operative Bank President & CEO Jack Hamilton presented the
donation to Friends of Bellingham Library Treasurer Peg Jasinski and
Library Director Bernadette Rivard. "As a bank that focuses on serving
local individuals, families and businesses, Medway Co-operative Bank tries to
support organizations that deliver valuable programs to the local
community, especially those that benefit young people. With plans
underway to open our first branch in Bellingham in early 2009, we wanted
to reach out to a local organization that had similar priorities. The
library was a natural choice because of the wide ranging programs they
deliver to the community," stated Hamilton.
Library Director Bernadette Rivard added, "Over the years, the library's
kitchen has gotten so much use by our staff and community groups. That
daily wear and tear has taken its toll, but the work the kitchen needed
was not able to be included in our regular expense budget. With this
donation to the Friends of Bellingham Public Library, we can begin to
make repairs and improvements to the kitchen."
Medway Co-operative Bank - with assets of $164 million - was founded in
1915 and offers a wide range of individual and business banking
services, as the only purely mutual, solely local bank in the community.
Medway Co-operative Bank has been voted the #1 Community Bank in Medway .
The Bank continues to earn the highest rankings for financial strength
from nationally recognized bank-rating companies including a Four-Star Superior rating from Bauer Financial
for 63 consecutive quarters. Medway Co-operative Bank is a member of the FDIC and the SIF, and all deposits are insured in full. The Bank's Main Office is located at 70 Main Street in Medway MA.
